You can reach Over het IJ Festival by bike, bus and ferry. We recommend you to come by bike, since some of the performances take place outside of the NDSM-wharf.

FERRYThe free ferry of GVB (Amsterdam public transport) will take you from Central Station to the NDSM-wharf in fifteen minutes. The ferry runs two times per hour, and four times during rush hour. The passage to the other side takes 14 minutes. Another ferry runs between Tasmanstraat in Westelijk Havengebied (West Harbour) and the NDSM-wharf. During rush hours this ferry runs three times per hour, outside of rush hours it runs 2 times per hour. The passage will take you only 6 minutes.

BUS. Take bus 391 from Central Station (direction Zaandam Zaanse Schans) or bus 394 (direction Zaandam Station) and get off at stop Klaprozenweg. Bus 35 (direction Molenwijk) also runs from Central Station, with this bus you get off at stop Ataturk. From both bus stops it will take you 5 minutes by foot to the festival. CAR. If you wish to come by car despite all the public transport options, you can park your car in the parking area on the NDSM-wharf next to the Scheepsbouwloods. Monday until Sunday, 9:00 until 23:00 the parking lot costs €1,30 per hour.

Performances that take place outside of the NDSM-wharf can be visited at your own convenience (by bike or by foot). Check our festival map to see all the performance locations outside of the NDSM-wharf, and the point of departure of performances, cycle-routes and walking-routes. Please make sure to take in account extra travel time to the location of the performance.

Not every performance can be visited at your own convenience. The point of departure for the New Makers Program, District Makers #3 and the Specials is located in the Heart of the Festival/Festivalhart. From this point of departure you will be escorted to the location of the performance.
